Microsoft Azure is a Cloud provider offering a range of compute, storage and application services. Azure services contain platform-as-a-service (PaaS) which is like a Google App Engine and Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS).
In an IaaS deployment, Azure's fundamental unit, compute resources in the virtual machine. Users of Azure can spin up general-purpose Windows or Linux VMs as well as machine images for applications such as SQL server or Oracle.
Bitscape Web Services remains the leader in infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) adoption among enterprises IT buyers.
With Azure any IT developer or IT professional can be more productive and successful. The integrated tools, ore-built templates and managed services make it easier to build and manage enterprise, mobile, web and Internet of Things apps faster, using skills you already have and technologies you already know.
Microsoft is also the only vendor positioned as a leader for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service, Application Platform as a Service and Cloud Storage Services for the second successive year.
IaaS is a managed compute service which facilitates complete control of the OS and the application platform stack to the application developers and IT professional which is similar to Hyper-V and other virtualization platforms. The unit of deployment is at the granularity of virtual machine. With the help of IT professional Developers can deploy virtual machines, application bits and associate data to the target compute infrastructure. With Azure IaaS, developers get complete control of the stack at the design time; the deployment still needs to consider the systematic qualities of the application influenced by the storage. Whereas IaaS provides design time portability, in due course the application may take advantage of the managed services which will impact its overall portability.
With the new IaaS offering, Microsoft announced a few technical improvements to Windows Azure Services. The new feature of Network load balancing support can be adopted at no extra cost. The sizing option for VMs has been expanded. The new service has "4core*28 GB RAM" and "8core *56 GB RAM" VM configuration options, according to Microsoft's announcement, Microsoft also expand the default operating system disk size from 30GB to 127 GB.
There are some virtual network developments associated with new service launch. Users or developers can now create virtual private Networks with "Persistent private IPs".
